Through out our media video we decided that we would only want two characters in the non-instrumental part of the film. We had the idea that having more then two characters would make it a lot harder for us to work with because of various reasons. One reason was the directing of the characters was hard enough with one person let alone two, this meant that we would of spent more time on set with more then two. The other reason is that if we wanted more characters it would of been hard to have every body who were involved in the making of our film to be at the same location and time at once. This would have been because of the availability of each character on that day.
This came into account when choosing our character. Our first choice of the person who will be the man in the video was a person called ‘Taylor Gladwin’. We decided to make him our first choice because we have had previous experiences with him acting in a media video before when we completed our thriller at AS level. We found that he was easy to work with and he also had good acting skills when it came down to shooting thrillers. He accepted the idea of being in our video but when it came down to the availability he could never make it to the days that we wanted to film as he was busy doing he’s media film in another group. Looking at the different factors we decided that the second best option was to choose another person that we have worked with before in media. We decided to choose our friend who is not a media student; this meant that our timetables wouldn’t collide so we could have more hours to film. Choosing our new actor was a good choice as he fitted the role of the character that we had intended. These included features such as a typical person, wearing jeans, a hoody and converses.
The next character that was needed in the non-instrumental part of our video was the nun. We decided that we was going to make the nun a man because it would be more mysterious and absurd. Deciding who was going to play the nun was easy. We both agreed that having one of us play the nun would be easier because we understand exactly what positions and acting needs to be done to make it successful as we both designed the storyboard. This meant that out of choice we choose Brad to play the nun. When looking at what footage we had of him it matched very well with the type of feeling we wanted to get across.
