Mood Board

I have selected a variety of images that represent the themes and moods that we are going to create in our music video. By selecting the moods and themes at this stage we are able to specifically target our intended audience which will help us produce a superior video. The theme of the song we chose is psychedelic rock and grunge and will involve psychotic and random elements to characterise the genre whilst also having segments of grunge where the band will be playing or known as ‘rocking’. Each image resembles a different mood and theme that will be used. I selected colourful images to show that all of the themes together will make the video vibrant and outstanding.

To start off with the first image is a truck with a psychedelic background; the truck has no resemblance to the video but the fact that someone has edited to make it psychedelic shows how we will also be editing our music video to fit in with a psychedelic genre. I have also a picture which was made to look like a psychedelic advertisement poster for ‘magic mushrooms’. As the band was heavily influenced by huluciegentic drugs it is going to be a key theme of our music video. We do not have the equipment to make psychedelic animations or the editing software to convey the mood of intoxication. Therefore we will make the video random which will refer to the unsystematic images which people see in a trance or so called ‘trip’. I have also selected a picture of a man dressed up in a champagne bottle as it was the most random thing that I could think of. This emphasises the randomness of a nun chasing a guy out of hospital, then a river and then to a church.
I have also selected images to express the characters and their personality which is portrayed in the video. Firstly the picture of the nuns resembles the character that I am going to play, which is a nun. I bought a nun costume and the fact it will be a man in the suit will hopefully be seen as funny, random, and a little bit crazy. The pictures of the nuns also resemble the religious factor. We are trying to show how the character looks towards god for help seen it is a nun chasing him. I have also included the Confused.com logo as I thought it was relevant the theme of confusion portrayed by the main character being chased by the nun.
The photo of the wild deer resembles how our video could be described as ‘wild’ and ‘obscene’. Our aim is to create enigmas in order to keep the audience interested up to the every end of our video. We also aim to finish on a positive note so the audience will be left with positive thoughts. Having a distinctive finish to our video it will help the audience to remember it and then go on and tell their friends. In today’s age they will most probably share it via social networking sites like FaceBook or Myspace where numerous people will be able to see it at the same time.
I have also chosen a picture to resemble the main character, known as ‘guy’. It is a picture with a main with eyes in his brain and all around him. When i look at this picture i see a person who's mind is unstable and feels as if he is always being watched which is paranoia. This relates to the guy in our music video because he feels as if everyone is out to get him and the nun has been sent by god.
The reason why i have put Jimmy Carr on our mood board is because he is so funny. I’m not saying our music video will be as funny as Jimmy Carr but we will try and make it humorous to relate the Butthole Surfers. As most of their songs and album titles mimic other artists or celebrities it will be important to show the bands personality within our music video.
We have selected a picture of a landscape because we are going to be trying to make our music video as professional as possible. By using shots that are ‘different’ and creative it will push our music video through the 6th form music video boundary to the professional music video level.
In conclusion all of the themes and moods have been summed up by selecting appropriate images, but the picture doesn't necessarily resemble a theme, it’s what image is portrayed within the image that has the greatest effect.
